| Harmlessly mischievous, Harmless teasing. I prefer definitions 2 & 3. These ornery little critters give us so much joy. They keep us busy and entertained, that's for sure! They are insanely in love with each other and best friends while at the same time being the worst of enemies when it comes to a marker or toy one of them wants and the other won't share. Ornery...I have always loved this word, but the spelling has always puzzled me. Here in the South we pronounce it "awnry" so every time I use the word it I have to look it up to make sure I am spelling it right. And I have always thought of "ornery" as a description of a cute and endearing mischievous spirit. That's what I mean when I say it at least. ornery,ornery,ornery,ornery,ornery...say it 5 times fast and it doesn't seem like a word any more. | |
