There are so many things that crack us up about Lucy. You'd think she was the baby of the family as much as she loves to entertain. She wants to be the center of attention at all times and she will do just about anything to get a laugh. When she gets in trouble, she usually just smiles or cracks up. What am I going to do when she is a teenager?
One thing she says pretty often that always makes us laugh is "Aw Ma'am," instead of "Aw Man!" And she says it like, "Awwwww Ma'am," with a tilt of her head and appropriate voice inflection.
We all share the love of black licorice and when she wants some she'll ask for 2 lickolish.
I love that word, "lickolish." Oh, and I almost forgot, "pueter" is what she calls the computer. She sounds like she has a little southern accent the way she says, "Momma, can I play on your pueter?"
This morning when I went to MOPS and dropped her off in her class she said, "Mommy, will you make me something in your class today?" It was so sweet. She loves to give us what she makes each week at church and she wants us to make her a little something too. I am wondering if her love language might be gifts. We happened to make super cute embellished grocery bags, so I gave mine to her. She proudly wore it all around church saying it was "the purse Mommy made me." She also loves to tell her friends that I am her Mommy. She say, "Hey, did you know that this is my mommy?" as she pats my arm and grins from ear to ear. She is the first one to do this...to show me that she is proud that I am her Mom. l.o.v.e.
She is in transition right now. Most days she doesn't nap, but when she does, she is out for 3 hours if we let her sleep that long. Shelby and Jesse both napped EVERY day until they were 5 1/2 so this naps ending at 3 thing is new territory for me. They all still have rest time for 2 hours a day when they have to read, watch a movie or color and give their bodies and their Mommy a break. If they are cranky and have a bad morning, they all sleep. I try to get off my feet during that time as much as I can. Many days I hit the floor at 6 a.m. and don't sit down until dinner, then again with the feet until bed. I feel like I should weigh about 100 pounds as much moving around as I do in a day. But alas, I do not. This 37 year old metabolism is not my friend. I can't wait to start working out at the OAC. We got to move James' things into his new office yesterday and we will be spending a lot of time there in the weeks ahead. We are praying, dreaming and planning and we are so excited about the ministry opportunities in that place. We just might get in good shape in the process too...bonus.
