Well, it finally happened. One of us was stung. My Mom was stung by a scorpion last night while she was folding laundry. I can't get a hold of her today and it is really bothering me. When we left her last night, her arm was hurting worse and worse. She said it felt like a needle going into her arm and then a throbbing pain. Poison control told her that within 6 hours she'd know if anything was going to go numb. They said that it may not even be the area that was stung. The poison can settle anywhere in the body, even the eyes or throat. Imagine having numb eyes or a lump in your throat for a week! I haven't heard yet if she is numb. Hopefully she'll call soon. We will be more alert after this experience. We have let down our guard ever since we moved into this house and haven't seen one inside.
The HEINOUS creature pictured above is a rattlesnake my neighbor found in front of her garage. Sweet, huh? She is much more brave than I. I can't imagine capturing one in a plastic box like that. EEEWWWWWWW! We got an up close and personal look at the demon and heard his nasty rattle. Lucy and Jesse kept knocking on the box to make him rattle. At least we know what they sound like now. I guess I should be checking the back yard every morning before I let the kids go play...something I hadn't thought of before. I do not love Arizona! Tell me, "I told you so!" Go on, I know you want to.
